Norlyth PurrRock cat-themed custom electric guitar, personalized cat graphic strat style guitar

Norlyth PurrRock From Factory Tour to Built In Speaker Cat-Themed Guitar Development Story

Norlyth was born from the founder’s profound passion for electric guitars, and PurrRock stands as our debut flagship model.
To refine this cat-themed innovative guitar, our team embarked on an on-site factory tour in June to inspect prototype samples, embarking on a rigorous iterative development journey full of craftsmanship trials.

Iterative Prototype Development & Craft Optimization

First Version: Initial Trial & Defect Discovery

We spent tremendous effort shaping the guitar body, testing as many as 30 different body blanks before locking the final contour.

For early assembly tests, we paired rosewood fingerboards with white single-single-double pickguards and golden hardware.

Two critical flaws emerged in the first prototype:

  • Inconsistent color rendering of the cat paw print artwork

  • Insufficient carving depth for the cat paw patterns on the body

Second Version: Process Upgrade & Structural Redesign

Norlyth upgraded printing workflows and introduced new precision machinery at the factory, completely resolving the pattern color deviation issue and delivering crisp, flawless cat graphics. However, maple fingerboards tested in this iteration failed to meet our tonal standards, leaving us unsatisfied with the overall tone.

We then pushed forward with bolder structural overhauls:

  • Removed the pickguard and one pickup to preserve a complete, unbroken cat pattern across the body

  • Reverted to premium rosewood fingerboards for richer, warmer tone

  • Pioneered a built-in speaker concept to enable amp-free playing, and partnered with professional engineers to implement the modification

We upgraded printing workflows and bought new machines for the factory. This fixed the color problems for good. Now the cat graphics came out clear and perfect.

But the maple fingerboards we tested didn't sound good enough. We were not happy with the tone. So we decided to make bigger changes to the design.

  1. Took off the pickguard and one pickup so the cat pattern could show fully across the body.

  2. Switched back to high-quality rosewood fingerboards for a richer, warmer sound.

  3. Came up with a built-in speaker so you can play without an amp, and worked with skilled engineers to make it happen.

Final Version: The First Cat-Themed Electric Guitar with Built-in Speaker

Engineers delivered a customized solution rapidly: precision cut cavities inside the guitar body, fitted a built-in speaker, and reserved a dedicated battery compartment on the back of the instrument.

After rounds of assembly and testing, the  first cat-themed electric guitar with an speaker Norlyth PurrRock was officially completed.

Let's Check Out the Features.

Core Functional Highlights of PurrRock

Beyond amp-free playback, PurrRock integrates a full suite of built-in effects and recording capabilities with dual composite pressable knobs, eliminating the need for external sound cards for recording and live streaming:
  1. Dual Tone Modes (Controlled by TONE Composite Knob)
    • Scale 1%–49%: Clean Mode — transparent, crisp tone ideal for folk, fingerstyle and pop performance
    • Scale 50%–100%: Distortion Mode — thick overdrive gain with punchy resonance, perfect for rock and blues
  2. Reverb Toggle

Short-press the upper VOL composite knob to activate reverb, with the red reverb indicator lighting up; short-press again to disable the effect and turn off the red light.
  3. Delay Toggle

Short-press the lower TONE composite knob to switch on delay, triggering the green delay LED beside the knob; short-press once more to turn delay off.
  4. OTG Audio Recording & Live Stream Function

Connect the Type-C port to phones, tablets or laptops via a Type-C OTG adapter for direct audio capture and live streaming, no extra sound card required.
